A trio of strong women bring Jeremy Paxman formally to the Edinburgh fringe today.
His one-man show, Paxo, is directed by freelance Sarah Edsaile, who's recent work has included laugh-a-minute oeuvres Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Death of a Salesman and Crash, all for West Yorkshire Playhouse. The producers include Anna Murphy, who used to work for BBC Worldwide, and Jeremy's agent of long-standing, Anita Land, sister of Lord Grade. Anita also manages Eamonn Holmes and Eddie Mair, both clearly candidates for future cabaret ventures.
When I last looked, Paxo was a sell-out, apart from second house this Tuesday. I doubt that Mark Byford will avail himself of a ticket; Mark's on stage on Wednesday, as part of the book festival. In April, Jezzer told the Guardian "When I see people being given £1m merely for walking out of the door... I start wondering: how much longer are we going to test the public’s patience?” There's always a risk that "B" on Jeremy's random topic generator might spark a rant.
