The BBC's shifting boundaries are leading to some complicated titles. A recent job ad sought a "Finance Director, North - incorporating England". Nowt like it since the Wars of the Roses. One presumes the successful candidate reports to Peter Salmon, "King of the North", surely soon to be renamed in parallel, along with his executive team at Salford Quays.
Meanwhile Charlie Villar, described as Director, Finance and Operations Division (package £186,500), seems to require a Finance Director, Finance and Operations. Confusing, huh ? This "key leadership role", which requires "proven experience in senior management" is graded at Band 11, just below the more generously-rewarded SM1 and SM2 grades being stripped out by Lord Hall and Anne Bulford.
