Ileach

After the STV narrowcasting of the first big leader debate in the Scottish referendum campaign, the BBC is providing plenty of opportunities to see the second, on August 25.  This will give worldwide exposure to host Glenn (no, not that one) Campbell.

Born in 1976 in Bowmore, he went to Islay High School "where his performance in the annual pantomime is still remembered". Thence to Glasgow University, and on to Radio Clyde. He moved to Scot FM in 1997, where he became head of news and sport, and won a Sony Silver award in 1999, for presenting "Lunchtime Live". Scot FM was taken over by the Guardian Media Group in 2002; genial John Myers, clearly ambivalent about Sony Awards at that time, described it as "a dog of a station"  - but Glenn had shifted to BBC Scotland as a reporter the year before.

A spell working for BBC Breakfast saw him feeding fish to the seals in Chester Zoo. He's since risen to political correspondent, backing up the portly and breathless Brian Taylor, and has presented Good Morning Scotland, the defunct Newsnight Scotland, and the Scottish bit of The Sunday Politics. He's occasionally been Eddie Mair's body double on PM. He chaired BBC Scotland leader debates in the 2010 election.

Glenn apparently makes a mean chilli con carne, and likes trekking and cycling.
