Absent friend

And the doors of Telegraph Towers were duly opened this evening, to hacks and hackettes attending the London Press Club/Pagefield panel looking at how new media and politics will play in the run-up to the 2015 election.

To get the evening off to a cracking start, let's have the first question."Why has one of the most digitally-engaged political journalists been axed by the Telegraph?"

Said journalist Benedict Brogan was to have chaired the session, until he was Seiken-ed out at the end of last month.  Isabel Hardman, Telegraph columnist, stepped up from the bench to fill his shoes, and her place on the panel was filled by Chris Hope, the Telegraph's senior political correspondent. Hope copped the question, with the answer not recorded by my informant, too distracted by everyone looking at the floor in embarassment.
