Two new categories in the as-yet-still-unsponsored-after-Sony-pulled-out Radio Academy Awards for 2014. One is for best interview of the year (Judges' tip “Don’t forget that this is about the skills of the person conducting the interview and not the calibre of the person being interviewed. Make sure all the tools of the trade are in evidence. What did listeners learn from this interview? What was new? What made it compelling or emotional? What made it stand out?”)
The second is for local radio journalist of the year (Judges' tip “This is first and foremost about local journalism in a local market so make sure you have taken that on board. As with all the categories, you need to be rigorous when selecting the material you’re putting forward. These awards exist to recognise the very best of the best so make sure you approach your entry with that in mind and provide the judges with a compelling listen!” - sort of Toppermost of the Poppermost, eh?)
So you too can spend Christmas slaving over old recordings to construct your 30 minute MP3 compilation - or not. You have til February 6th.
