Kindling ready

We first hinted at the "bonfire of the boards" at the BBC back in August. Ever since then, management types have been going to meetings as usual, but shiftily exchanging glances - are we at one of the pointless ones, the pan-BBC steering groups and boards that the DG is going to axe ? It must be uncomfortable when you think there's a one in two chance your weighty discussions on position papers, your lucid action points and pithy minutes are just wasted effort.

Fear not: the bonfire IS still on Godric Smith's BBC Good News advent calendar, and may well be behind a door to be opened next week. So diaries, like Mark Thompson's from 2009, will have generous amounts of white space from January 2014.

P.S. Anyone know which door conceals the Price Waterhouse Cooper report on DMI ?
