There's a new, somewhat capricious spirit emerging from the BBC's embattled Freedom of Information team. Asked in February this year how much Auntie paid Gary Glitter over the years, they've finally decided that "contributor records, like other programme related material, fall outside the
scope of the Act (see further explanation below), on the basis that they are held for the purposes of
‘journalism, art or literature.’"
This sits untidily with the release of every contributor record they could find for Jimmy Savile in June.
