As the BBC's suspended Chief Technology Officer, John Linwood, discusses his future with the Corporation, it's good to see him back on Twitter, after a gap of eight months.
Interestingly, given that the Digital Media Initiative, now cancelled, struggled with creating, managing and accessing petabytes of archive storage, he's tweeted about experiments in quantum computing. Scientists in Canada have apparently managed to keep a form of quantum memory stored on silicon qubits stable for 39 minutes at room temperature. Previously, silicon qubits were only thought to be stable at temperatures of -259 degrees Celsius - hardl;y a reason to move BBC R&D to Salford.
