James Harding, seen as a champion of the female gender at The Times, has selected two men in their fifties to strengthen the team running BBC News. Keith Blackmore, Harding's number 2 at Wapping, comes in to the new post of Managing Editor. Keith rose from the sports pages - and his farewell video (he resigned in August) featured tributes from Jose Mourinho and Frank Lampard.
As we predicted, Jonathan Munro comes from ITN to run Newsgathering. ITN have already filled behind, but, according to the The Guardian, they could be risking tremors and death with their new appointment...
ITV News moved quickly to replace Munro by appointing Tim Singleton, former assistant editor, newsgathering, as its new director of newsgathering.
In the last eight years he has been responsible for bringing in three Baftas in a row, for earthquakes in China and Haiti and the Cumbria murders.
