Who's left to do the disciplinary hearings on Newsnight/Bryn Estin ?  It would be difficult to imagine acting DG Tim Davie in the room - he must surely wait outside for a recommendation.  HR and legal will be around, but someone has to ask forensic questions. Phrases beginning "Wouldn't touch it with a ... " come to mind.

Somewhere south of the Equator, Director of Global News Peter Horrocks is thought to be on a big family holiday. It looks like he got out of minding the News ship just in time - Adrian Van Klaveren's arrival at the helm of Savile coverage was announced on 27th October.

Newspaper reports say acting Newsnight editor Liz Gibbons came with story issues to Adrian on 28th October - so presumably she thought she was talking to the right man. But the MacQuarrie report says the line of editorial control for non-Savile child abuse stories wasn't firmly established until midday on 2 November - the day of transmission.
