Filling shelves

The lifetime achievement award, for Nicholas Parsons, iced the Sony Radio Awards cake for Radio 4, with a haul of 6 "Golds". Radio 5 Live and Radio 2 each take home 4.

Liverpool will be proud of two radio stations - Radio City and Juice FM each named station of the year in their respective audience category.

My highlights: Peter Allen and Asmah Mir winning Gold for Best News Programme with Drive on 5Live; Victoria Derbyshire winning Speech Broadcaster of The Year; and  BBC World Service, which can occasionally be diffident about coverage of UK events, went for it with the wedding of Will and Kate, and won Gold for Best Live Event.

And 6Music, marked for closure by BBC strategists, is the first digital network to win UK Station of The Year.
