The deadline for Sony Radio Academy Awards is today at 5pm, so if radio folk see colleagues tearing their hair out at screens tangling with last minute edits and online entry forms, pass them a flat white and Prozac.
This year, the Academy promises 130 judges will be reviewing the entries - and for many, the interest will be in the gender balance of the panels. Sound Women, already campaigning for more women presenters on network and local radio, have been exhorting more women to enter this year, and will doubtless expect parity when the Sony Awards Committee reveals the judges' list. There are 14 members of the Sony Awards Committee - Gwyneth Williams, Controller Radio 4 and 4 Extra, is the only woman.

We always tell people who the judges are Bill, it goes up on our website once all the entries are in. We never say what categories they are judging, just in case they come under any pressure! We have more women this year judging too.
