In third place

Today in the States, "CBS This Morning" reappeared as a title for the network's breakfast show, for the first time since 1999. The new set, with hardwood floors and scrubbed brick walls, seems to mix the Central Perk coffee shop-look with some very sparkly perspex, and an on-screen green room nicked from Jonathan Ross.  Here's a tour...



Will the new set, plus regular hosts Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Erica Hill, lift CBS from third place in  the US breakfast ratings ?

• CBS is also getting a new newsroom at West 57th Street in New York, which promises "windows for curious passers-by to glimpse in".  If they can do that in Hell's Kitchen, let's hope BBC bosses hold their nerves at Broadcasting House, where closed-door cold war warriors are already measuring out frosted glass film.
