Headlines on the BBC website are usually restrained, and, dare I say it, dull.  But technology seems to be a different matter...

If the text is too small for you, the new technologies that have been unleashed are "Waterproof smartphone coatings, diet-aiding armbands and a social network that warns drivers of the latest police speed-traps".  Is reporter Leo Kelion over-excited at attending the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (North America's biggest trade show) ? Let's hope he planned ahead - hotel rooms are around eight times their normal rates during the event.
