Last week, the BBC said farewell to the print edition of its house magazine, Ariel. For most staff - and for Fleet Street - the letters page has been the most popular over the years. A place where the lowly chunter and grumble, sometimes eliciting half-answers from middle managers; a place where the daftnesses of "Producer Choice", "My Pension", "Out of London" and more have been exposed to some deserving ridicule; and one of the few places where there's a vague sense of dialogue in the organisation.
Now, in the world of the web, there is in practice no limit to the number of letters that can be published - and answered. And publishing ought to be instant. How will "new media" Ariel respond to this opportunity ? What do you think ? Let's see when the date changes....
