BBC Local Radio editors, already twitchy over having to endorse and explain cuts of 20% as sensible and reasonable on their own airwaves, are now rudderless on some basics. Should they all re-broadcast the Queen's Christmas message, they asked HQ ? The answer came back from a keyboard apparently missing the apostrophe key.
"Some of you have been questioning whether or not there is a mandate to take the Queens speech on Christmas Day....there is NOT. Its up to you."
So the 40 stations' 2.5million solus listeners might miss out on the monarch's thoughts - this year being produced by Sky for the first time.
