BBC DG Mark Thompson (Panorama, C4, etc) is appearing at the Radio Festival in Salford this morning. His interlocutor is Steve Hewlett (er, Inside Out, Panorama, ITV and lately of R4's Media Show). Two radio giants.
The audience will be looking forward to hearing why a joint English radio show after 7pm on BBC "local" radio stations is his preferred option for saving money in News. And perhaps why Alan Hansen is on £40,000 for a day watching football, when local radio pays around £40 for proper reporting. More later.
