BBC newsreader Joanna Gosling is now an author. Her literary agents are Curtis Brown, whose current list includes Monica Ali, Jeffrey Archer, John Le Carre, Patricia Cornwell etc. Her first book is called Simply Wonderwoman - She arrived at the concept for Simply Wonderwoman after deciding she’d spent too long feeling like her head was full and it was time to get a strategy for coping with a busy life to allow her time to indulge in her passion for creativity and making. Her mantra is “Minimum effort, maximum return.”
List price is £17.99, but it's already discounted at Amazon, to £11.39 with free delivery.
Joanna's given the Mail's Interiors section forty of her top tips. Here are my favourites. I wonder if the exclamation mark crops up quite as often on the News Channel's Autocue.....
Get super-soft hands and feet with petroleum jelly
Slather a thick layer on to hands and feet, wrap in clingfilm and then cover with socks overnight and your skin will be ultra-soft in the morning. Don’t forget to do your feet first !
Make leggings out of old tights
All you need to do is snip off the foot. Cut at the lowest point you can, just above the heel. Don’t worry about hemming because they won’t fray.
Get your scissors super sharp
All you need is a piece of tinfoil. Fold it over on itself several times so it is six or eight layers thick. Cut through the foil with the scissors around ten times. Your scissors will be sharp again. Wow !
Joanna preparing what looks like a very light lunch for husband Craig ! Or it may be her tip for cleaning a greasy oven ! Buy the book !
