The resourceful Mark Coles, now much missed from the BBC World Service schedules, has taken his excellent record review show private - and to the bottom of the garden.
He left the BBC earlier this month, after a 25-year-career moving from BBC local radio to Today, and thence to Bush House where he fronted World of Music, until it was culled in favour of "more news" (which is apparently cheaper). He must reckon you can't copyright such an easy programme title, as he's just launched a weekly online version of the show, recorded in his garden shed, and now available via his website.
Listen to it all, or at least until the second track - Ben L'Oncle Soul's take on The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army". Mark had a hand in the Stripes UK breakthrough - and if he can do the same for Ben L'Oncle Soul, that will be a result.
