Roger Johnson is moving from Southampton to Salford. This is not to be confused with the transfer of Roger Johnson from Birmingham City to Wolves.
The first Roger belongs to the BBC, and is the son of Radio Stoke's "Mr Stoke City", football commentator Nigel Johnson. Roger started in broadcasting at Radio Solent in 1994, moved to GMR, where he commentated on Manchester United, until moving back to Southampton, this time to tv as South Today's sports reporter, in 1997. Now he's heading to Salford Quays to fill the boots of departing legend Gordon Burn, presenting North West Tonight from October, alongside Ranvir Singh. He'll presumably also leave the extensive roster of BBC News Channel presenters. It's not clear whether or not he'll keep a football show - in Southampton, he presents the local version of Late Kick Off; that seat in the north-west is held by Tony Livesey.
