DJ news

Chris Moyles has signed a new contract with Radio 1, keeping him with the station until January 2014 - which will mark his tenth anniversary on the breakfast show.  In 2007, the BBC Trust revealed that he was on £630k a year.  In July 2009 he said he'd taken a 20% cut - which, if true, took him down to £504k.

The Sun says he's signed for £1.25m for the 30 month deal - working out at £500k p.a.   The Guardian says the contract is worth £1m, which equals £400k p.a.  So it's either a standstill deal or a 20% cut; a range of other presenters and their agents would like to know which is right. And there are plenty of people who think the future of Radio 1 would be better served by someone nicer and cheaper....
