Admirer

A sharp-eyed reader (of The Guardian, and, occasionally, this blog) has spotted that Ashley Highfield, late of the BBC, Microsoft UK and, from today, CEO of Johnston Press, has at least one fan.

It's a Guardian commenter with the handle thezookeeper, who has no detailed profile, but made his/her first appearance with these thoughts appended to a piece by Jemima Kiss entitled "End of An Era", in April 2008, when it was announced that Ashley was leaving his role as BBC Director of Future Media and Technology, for Project Kangaroo.....

Thezookeeper's next appearance came in October 2009, appended to an article headlined "Channel 4 steps up hunt for Chief Executive".

And today, appended to news of Ashley's appointment to run Johnston Press, the third appearance by thezookeeper...

  • At close of play today, Thursday, Johnston Press shares were down to 4.90p. If Ashley's incentive of £500,000-worth had been bought this morning, he'd have lost £10k in a day.
