A little late on this, but the first ball at St Peter's College, Oxford under the aegis of Master Mark Damazer seems to have passed off without trouble. You may remember it became involved in a little publicity-seeking coverage with the Circus of Horrors, who took offence when the college rejected the services of Captain Dan, the demon dwarf, whose piece de resistance is to pull a vacuum cleaner with his private parts.
With 540 in attendance, the event was officially sold out (£75 a ticket + £20 if you wanted a formal dinner), though a late flurry offered entrance at £37.50 if you party-ed half the night, and served and cleared up for the other half. The theme became the French Revolution, and you can see some pictures of the jeunesse doree here, taken by Lauri Saksa.
Mark gives his version of the night in his blog. Is this him caught walking back to the Lodge at 0100 ?
