Isolated

It's only a quarter of a mile long, but the Metrolink stub to MediaCityUK is proving a real problem for its operators, since it opened in September 2010 with the promise of 78 trams a day. We were pleased to offer a light fanfare on Tuesday to news of a slightly extended service; but it didn't last long - yesterday the service was suspended again, until further notice.

Watching trams, if not travelling in them, is soothing.  This video, found via Manchester Transport, and made by Dave Spencer of PMP Transport Films, captures problems with the manual operation of points in November - the fun starts at 2 minutes 40 seconds in.   I'm no expert, but wouldn't a double line in and out of the development have made more sense ?
