BBC News spends time each winter defending the on-air proliferation of reporters all dressed in either North Face or Berghaus jackets, with logos neatly in frame. The Royal Wedding brings new and exciting challenges. According to the Daily Mail, Mulberry claim to be lending Sophie Raworth a dress for the day; and a little known label, Voy, says Mishal Husein has got one of their numbers "at cost price".
A BBC News spokesman has swung into action: ‘No decisions have yet been taken as to what presenters will be wearing. The clothing will be sourced in line with BBC guidelines and will not be given for free or at a reduced cost in exchange for presenters wearing them on air'. One suspects Mark Byford will be calling for a full list of all presenters' clothing on Monday; reviewing them with the Editorial Policy Unit, and should there be brand indiscretions, the offenders will be sent to the Strictly Come Dancing wardrobe. Meanwhile an online course in Dress Regulation and Lessons Learned will follow before the end of the year.
