Here's a useful chart, when the BBC is looking at cuts/savings, and US networks like NPR are facing calls for "defunding". It measures the spend per head in dollars by the world's 15 leading democracies funding public broadcasting. In the UK, it works out at $90.7 dollars each; in the US, $3.75. Data compiled by New York University's Department of Media, Culture and Communication, and highlighted by the Nieman Journalism Lab.
