Look after the pennies...

I thought it might be instructive to review the top salaries at the BBC, given that this is the month that the Executive skip their pay cheques.  I'm also assuming (though it hasn't been confirmed) that all the special pension top-up deals are now over, and that basic salary is the better judge of relativities (which may or not be true). I've also left out John Smith and Jana Bennett, at Worldwide, who seem to have established a different way of doing pay.

My list of the top 15 - corrections welcome - goes like this...

Mark Thompson £668k
Peter Salmon £375K
Tim Davie £365k
Zarin Patel £352k
Caroline Thomson £335k
Helen Boaden £320k
Lucy Adams £320k (not on exec)
Pat Younge £310k (not on exec)
Bal Samra £280,500 (not on exec)
Ralph Rivera £280,000 (not on exec)
Dominic Coles £257,500 (not on exec)
Roly Keating £250,000 (not on exec)
Roger Mosey £241,000 (not on exec)
John Linwood £240,000 (not on exec)
Danny Cohen £225,000 (not on exec)

People may be surprised to see three finance-types in there - Zarin Patel, Bal Samra (at Vision, where he does "rights" as well), and Dominic Coles (at Journalism).

Will any of the consultants currently looking at structures find this interesting ?

  • At the end of last year, Dominic Coles had a spell at Harvard.  He seems to have travelled to and from Boston in better than average comfort, claiming £1,931.16 for the return flight.
