The BBC's Director of News, Helen Boaden, has been talking to journalism students at Staffordshire University. No searing insights, but some comments on the Delivering Quality First strategic review currently underway; she says there will be job cuts "but not as many as people are talking about", and "don't believe what you read in the papers about what's going on at the BBC". There's a whole lot of my day gone....
(For those of you concerned with the framing of the interview, there are two people at the computer screen behind her, not one with a very long arm and bad posture).
If she's responsible for 9,000 staff from April, presumably there'll be a significant change in pay differentials on the way....
