Dinner party shock

It's still going Oxford's way at the top of the BBC.  Diane Coyle (Brasenose and Harvard) steps up to be deputy to Lord Patten (Chancellor and Balliol) at the BBC Trust.

The other serious applicant was believed to be Dame Patricia Hodgson, who, as a former Tory candidate, was never likely to balance the equation - she's also light blue (Newnham and now Principal of Newnham).    Dianne's politics are really economics.  The news of her appointment may boost the sales of her latest oeuvre, "The Economics of Enough", though I suspect many diarists (and me) will hark back to her 2002 blockbuster "Sex, Drugs and Economics".
