The BBC's house mag, Ariel (now available online to all-comers) says that staff other than those with operational needs, disabilities or star presenters/super-duper managers, will have to pay a fiver a day to park at MediaCityUK. They've already been practising this policy on staff at BBC Worldwide in Wood Lane, W12, who can buy spaces when available in the giant underground car park concealed under the Broadcast Centre and the Media Centre.
For those in Salford, locals advise you can park at the Lowry Centre as long as you spend some money there - and I don't think capuccinos are going to inflate to a fiver that soon. In London, the BBC is making cash from staff while it can. It's hard to imagine selling Television Centre without its multi-storey car park; and for those moving to the redeveloped Broadcasting House, parking for disabled staff and visitors is ALL that's currently on offer, thanks to central London planning restrictions.
