The BBC leaders of the Delivering Quality First workstreams (or the Nine Horsemen of the Apocalypse, as the Telegraph dubbed them) have less than two weeks to hand in their homework. And so far and wide have they stretched themselves, that there are two dawning realisations. One: they've all been chasing the same savings. Two: the gatekeepers of Vision, Audio & Music, Journalism, HR and the rest have been working pretty hard to poo-pooh radical thought, wherever it might appear.
The next stage: pro-formas have to be submitted to the centre, where they will be compared with the real plans drawn up by strategy, and ideas that appear on both will be presented to staff by DG Thommo on April 7.
Then the Executive can relax at a party to say farewell to Mark Byford.
