Crikey, the last act of BBC deputy DG, Mark Byford, is certainly not about doing fewer things better. As co-ordinator of coverage of the Royal Wedding, we expect him to provide a blockbuster on BBC1. But four radio networks doing their own coverage ?
On Radio 1, you'll get the incisive insights of Vernon Kay and Scott Mills. On Radio 2, you'll get the A to B range of emotions from Chris Evans and Ken Bruce. On Radio 4, you won't be short of phrase-making, from James Naughtie and Ed Stourton; and on 5Live it'll be Tweets-a-go-go with Richard Bacon and Victoria Derbyshire. No wonder they're spending money "upgrading studio equipment to cope with multi-source coverage of next month's royal wedding". Is it ALL necessary ?
