There'll be a few puzzled independent radio production teams in the North West of England today. The story goes like this. The BBC says it's moving spend and production to MediaCityUK, to help the creative economy of the North West. Wise Buddah, one of the the oldest established radio indies in London, opens an office in Manchester. Radio 6Music (along with Radio 2, a substantial client for Wise Buddah) puts production of the weekend breakfast show out to tender. It's won by Wise Buddah North.
It will, however, start life in London, before moving to MediaCityUK. It looks like presenter Nemone (born in Chester, educated at Manchester University, failed candidate for the Greek Olympic 4 x 400m relay team) is moving back from London to be near her beloved Sale Harriers.
Maybe someone will raise the matter at this Radio Academy event tonight, chaired by Nemone, and featuring her new producer, Jo Meek, of Wise Buddah.
