I'm slightly puzzled by the thought in today's Telegraph that "Lord Patten of Barnes will launch a root-and-branch review of the BBC’s governance structure ... Lord Patten will, in particular, consider Mr [Jeremy] Hunt’s suggestion that a non-executive chairman should be appointed to the BBC’s executive board, which is led by Mark Thompson, the director-general".
This seems at odds with Patten's reported wish to be known as "Chairman of the BBC", rather than "Chairman of the BBC Trust". Can such a review be open-minded ?
