Give and take

The irony of subsidised cultural interventions: in the year the BBC finally moves to Salford, the local council is cancelling the annual Proms In The Park event.  Since 2007, the BBC Philharmonic, already trying out its rehearsal space at MediaCityUK, has provided the house band for a show at Buile Hill Park. The concert will end as the council looks to make £42m savings.
