Sky is very pleased with the concept of its new channel, Sky Atlantic. All that American HBO stuff we apparently crave. Drama and comedy, but with an edge. In Boardwalk Empire, set in prohibition-days Atlantic City, we get lesbian trysts, train sex, and body doubles for Scot Kelly MacDonald. In Game of Thrones, we get direwolves, twin incest, beheadings and death by fire.
It will apparently be free to Sky's 10million subscribers. My question - what have they bought for before the twin watersheds ? Even in the States, HBO only goes mildy risque after 2100, and risque after 2300, a policy largely followed by British schedulers on cable and satellite. Today on HBO in the States before 2100, you're offered penguin documentaries and Mother Goose. What have the Wizards of Osterley bought for our pre-watershed entertainment ?
