There's clearly some sort of competition going on amongst backroom editors to get closer to the microphone during the 48-hour NUJ strike. Yesterday we had television pieces by Jon Williams, BBC World News Editor, Newsgathering; Jonathan Baker, Head of the BBC College of Journalism; Jim Buchanan, Deputy UK News Editor, Newsgathering; and Andrew Steele, Project Manager BBC World News.
On the radio, Director of News Helen Boaden cotnributed a piece or two to radio bulletins. At Bush House, Andrew Whitehead, editor of World Service News & Current Affairs, has been reading bulletins.
And today, Craig Oliver, Controller English, BBC Global News, has announced that he's won his spurs too, completing his first bulletin reads for World Service, with joyful tweets from his unassuming nom de plume GlobalBeeb.
