Minute minutiae

Minutes of the BBC Trust's "conference" at Caversham show the plan to axe Byford, and drop Adams and Baylay from the Executive was shared by Thommo at least at the end of September, 11 days before it was revealed to the public.

EXECUTIVE BOARD COMPOSITION

146.1 The Director-General presented proposals to reduce the number of executive
directors on the BBC’s Executive Board. He noted that the Trust and the Executive
had recently agreed to reducing the senior manager paybill by 25% by December 2011
and said that in this context it was appropriate to consider the size and composition of
the Executive Board. The Director-General briefed Trust members on his plans to
implement the reduction in posts; Trust members discussed the implications of the
Director-General’s proposals.

146.2 The Trust approved the proposals to reduce the number of executive directors on the
Executive Board from ten to seven. Trust members sought further information about
the impact of some of the proposed changes and agreed that the Director-General
would brief the Chairman on these issues personally.
