Peel Media have announced a deal to open a branch of Costa Coffee at MediaCityUK, at a date to be confirmed in 2011. It'll be inside a "BBC" building - on the ground floor of Bridge House, which will be home for teams making Blue Peter, BBC Bitesize, Mastermind and Dragons' Den - but presumably before you get through security gates. Strike day is probably a bad day to ask whether or not BBC staff get a discount, or whether BBC property take a profit share - or, indeed whether there'll be any staff canteens for the BBC on the site.
And Peel Media probably won't want to read Owen Hatherley's book, A Guide to the New Ruins of Great Britain, in which he discusses "pointless piazzas with attendant branches of Costa Coffee"
