Gordon Brown, whilst not actually speaking, has come out typing; a piece for the Guardian's Comment Is Free section, on the "masquerade" of the forthcoming Burmese elections.
The BBC Press Office is, perhaps surprisingly, more upbeat. They're "elections that should form part of the country's transition from military rule to democracy". Head of BBC Burmese, Tin Htar Swe, says: "It's hard to overestimate the significance of these elections, which are going to change the political structure of Burma".
I never thought I'd say this, but, sorry Tin, I'm with Gordon.
