Ever closer
The Independent on Sunday says ITV is edging closer to a deal to move to MediacityUK. However, the Indie seems surprised that office staff might move to existing space; there's around five lovely floors of the tower part of the studio block unlet, as well as the proposed conversion of site huts into the Greenhouse, so Peel currently has no interest in building more spec offices. The new information is that ITV might want a dedicated studio, as well as using the shared facilities - and that might take time. This wrinkle might see some staff hanging on at Granada to use studios there, while a new facility is built - and, presumably, the outdoor Coronation Street set is created across the canal. And, if Peel finances can stand it, a chance for the value of the old Granada site to improve.
