Reputation is a sensitive thing. The Lowry Hotel has had two unfavourable reviews on TripAdvisor since September 5 - uncannily, the day the News of the World revealed that Wayne Rooney had strayed from the marital bed at the Salford Quays venue.
"Leedsjohnboy" headlines his comments "All fur coat and no knickers". Heidi129 says "Awful, not so much Rocco Forte as Basil Fawlty".
The Lowry is now the 13th most popular hotel in Manchester, according to TripAdvisor stats. And deluxe rooms are available this weekend via hotels.com at £127 a night, rather than the £300 quoted by most newspapers.
