Scottish Peat

They'll never quite replace Jeremy Peat at the BBC.  He finishes shortly as Trustee for Scotland, and ads have been placed inviting applications for his successor.

As a Trustee with more business experience than others (notably 14 years at the RBS, getting out safely in 2005), he's had responsibilities way beyond Scottish interests: keeping an eye on BBC property, pay and pensions.  You might argue that he hasn't, as an individual, kept them under sufficient control - but friends say he's pragmatic and straightforward.  In recent weeks, he's not been afraid, as a Pension Fund trustee, to say openly that the BBC Executive by-passed them on their current proposed changes.

If you fancy representing Scotland, you either need to live or work there. The rules say the position is open to  individuals who meet the relevant criteria from across the United Kingdom.  Beyond that, you need "a business or residential base in Scotland, a knowledge of the culture, characteristics and affairs of the people of Scotland and a knowledge and understanding of public broadcasting issues, and key stakeholders, in Scotland".

Closes 5pm October 8th.
