Developments

Yet more office space is on the way for Salford Quays. The Council has approved plans to redevelop the former Colgate Palmolive factory to provide 38,000 sq ft of desks, etc. It will be called "Soapworks".

Meanwhile, on the other side of Trafford Road, no sign yet of what the coalition government will do about MediaCityUK backers, the North West Development Agency (and other such bodies). The Conservatives had them in their sights for savings - Eric Pickles, now Communities and Local Government Secretary, said back in 2008 that the NWDA was as doomed as Anne Boleyn under the reign of Henry VIII. The NWDA was created in 1999, and now employs 476 people with an annual budget of £296m.
