A 175-mile road trip today - Barnsley to London - and not a single election poster, car sticker, window banner or garden sign in sight. The only political advertising was an EU equal pay campaign on the back of a No 43 bus at Archway - and I don't think the Commission is putting up candidates directly at this election.
All very different, I'm sure, from the hurly-burly of College Green. And things that matter, such as where was the BBC mike when Gordon Brown declaimed from the steps of Number 10. The first part of his oration seemed only to be heard live via an effects mike - giving Gordon a resonant, echo-y church feel (which he might have rather liked).
