Talking music
The "BBC Music Blog" (I thought they were cutting back on web offerings...) brings a cascade of one-way dialogue for Andy Parfitt. In discussing the success of "BBC Introducing" - a way for bands to upload tracks to the BEEB - he draws on his part in the legacy of John Peel, and is duly savaged by 69 commenters (and at least six taken out by moderators), mostly for alleged hypocrisy. How can you invoke the spirit of Peel Acres, and be responsible for a strategy which requires the closure of 6Music ? The commenters have got a least one change from the BBC; blog minder Nigel Smith has agreed that 6Music should be in the metadata in a post about new music - it's omission was "an oversight".
