I wonder how the BBC's "Gold Commander" Mark Byford will cope this weekend ? He's been laid up at home with a broken leg since a ski-ing fall. His commander role is in crisis management - last activated when BNP leader Nick Griffin was on Question Time at Television Centre.
This Saturday, from noon, streets around Broadcasting House will be closed off, as supporters of 6Music are set to "make some noise" with the help of popular musicians such as "Allo Darlin'", "Mirror Kicks", and "The Brute Chorus". Mark is a bit of muso - loves quizzes, and is enamoured of Beatles' trivia. But good though communications may be to his Winchester home, he may have to enjoy these tunes on his News Channel. It's likely someone else will take control in wherever the management conning tower is established for the day. Noise rather than numbers may be the issue - will the unwonted sound of protests be heard over live mikes in and around BH ? And will staff on shift be allowed into the pub the protestors have taken over for a post-demo pint or two ?
