The Telegraph reports that Jo Whiley and Steve Lamacq are to re-unite for the Evening Session on 6Music. Before you get over-excited, it's a one-off for Good Friday, not a long term strategy. Lamacq and Whiley presented the Evening Session on Radio 1 from 1993 to 1997, a show which was first hosted by Mark Goodier. Controller Bob Shennan, in what looks like a rather long press release for a dying station, says ''BBC 6 Music is the perfect place to revive such a loved and respected programme. Steve and Jo can look back at the music scene that they are so intrinsically linked with and bring context to its influence on what's happening today.'' Shouldn't that read "was the perfect place" ?
The Good Friday edition will come after a planned demonstration about the 6Music closure on Saturday March 27 at Broadcasting House.
