Remembering

The American press has been awash with anniversary specials about Woodstock.

Slightly less publicity has been given to Charles Manson follower, Lynnette "Squeaky" Fromme, freed from prison in Fort Worth on parole this Friday, after serving thirty four years of a life sentence for trying to shoot President Gerard Ford in Sacramento in 1975. In 1969 - the same year as Woodstock - Manson followers committed the so-called "Helter Skelter" murders of actress Sharon Tate and six others. Fromme did not take part in those killings, though she was arrested in connection with another murder, but the charges were dropped for lack of evidence. San Francisco Chronicle.
