I'm free

Meanwhile (and slightly related to post below) the letters column of the FT is hosting an BBC/ITV spat. Mark Byford (June 5) argued that if third-party consortia were to take over ITV regional news slots, they should at least have the benefit of the advertising revenue from those slots. Today big-hearted John Cresswell, of ITV, says the only free thing on offer is the air-time; the ad revenue stays with ITV.
